UNIBEN admits candidates through UTME and DE streams. UNIBEN’s admission process usually very rigorous. Once a candidate satisfies the requirements for eligibility for both the institution and the specific department he or she is applying to, such candidate can apply for admission and hope for a positive outcome.

Below are the requirements for admission for both UTME and DE candidates.

UNIBEN Admission Requirements for UTME Candidates:

  1. The student must select ‘University of Benin’ (Uniben) as his/her first choice institution during registration for UTME.
  2. Candidate must have scored at least 200 in their UTME/JAMB examination.
  3. Candidates must have a Minimum of Credit passes in Five (5) subjects including English Language at any of the O’level examinations (WAEC, GCE, NECO) and not more than two

UNIBEN Admission Requirement for Direct Entry (D.E.) Candidates:

  1. Minimum of credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language at SSCE, GCE O’Level or equivalent qualification at not more than two sittings.
    2. Must possess an HND, OND or NCE in the relevant programme to be undertaken in
    3. An acceptable score is prescribed for admission at the Direct Entry Screening Exercise.
    4. Final selection is a combination of candidate’s certificates and the direct entry screening result.

Once all these criteria have been met, the candidate can then proceed to apply for admission once the admissions’ intake season takes off. Instructions and procedures for applying are usually published during that season, either on the school website, or in national dailies.
