Top 10 Richest Pastors in Nigeria

Pastors in Nigeria are one of the most-scrutinized leaders in the country. For some reason, many people expect them to be poor, all in the name of serving their congregation; and those of them are rich are accused of either misappropriating church funds or engaging in money rituals.

Well, it is worthy to note that many rich pastors in Nigeria get their wealth through legitimate means. Some are into business, while some are shrewd investors.

This post aims to explore the list of the top ten richest pastors in Nigeria.

Starting from the tenth, here goes:

#10. Pastor Lazarus Muoka ($3 million)

Pastor Lazarus Muoka is the founder and current General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement. The membership of the church grew exponentially after a series of supernatural experiences and testimonies of signs and wonders that guests were having.

Pastor Lazarus Muoka is known to be a shrewd businessman. According to reports, he was already a very wealthy businessman before he allegedly received a call to ministry from God.

Lazarus Muoka is from Imo state, and was raised in the ways of the Catholic Christians. However, he eventually left the Catholic fold and began mingling with Protestant and Pentecostal Christians. His church, the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement is a Pentecostal church and has one of the largest auditoriums in Lagos State, sitting on a large expanse of land around Ijesha/Cele, in Lagos.

Asides his ministry engagements, he also runs a chain of businesses that run into billions of naira. He is a known author and book publisher, and also has huge stakes in multi-million naira businesses within and outside the country. He is also into real estate and property business.

His current networth is put at roughly $3 million dollars, making him the tenth richest pastor in Nigeria.

#9. Bishop Mike Okonkwo ($3.5 million)

Bishop Mike Okonkwo is one of the wealthiest church leaders in Nigeria. He is from Anambra state. He was born and bred there, before he later moved down to Lagos State to complete his education.

Bishop Mike Okonkwo was wealthy before he got into ministry, though it appears that his wealth increased significantly after he got into service in God’s vineyard. Before he went into ministry, he worked as a banker with one of the top banking institutions in the country for several years. At some point in his life, he also worked with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

When he received the call of God on his life, he founded The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM). He currently serves as the General Overseer of the ministry.

His current networth is an estimated $3.5 million. His investments and business empires span a wide range of sectors, like real estate and oil and gas. His church, The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), attracts thousands of worshippers to its large auditorium every week.

Bishop Mike Okonkwo is known to own a private jet, and a fleet of luxury cars and properties. He comes ninth on our list of the top ten richest pastors in Nigeria.

#8. Pastor Gbenga Osho ($5 million)

Pastor Gbenga Oso is widely known for his giftedness in facilitating supernatural childbirth. He is popularly known as ‘Father of a Million Babies’. He is the founder and senior Pastor of Laughter Foundation Church, and he holds conferences regularly for women looking for the fruit of the womb.

He is known to be a staunch believer in the power of prayer. He believes that prayers work wonders in the lives of those who believe. According to reports, no one who ever met him for prayers or believed in his prayers for the fruit of the womb, left without their prayers being answered; sometimes, almost immediately.

Pastor Gbenga Oso is not known to be a very business-inclined person, though unconfirmed reports indicate that he has several business investments from which he makes his millions.

He is currently worth a total sum of $5 million dollars, making him occupy the number 8 position on our list.

#7. Reverend Chris Okotie ($13 million)

Reverend Chris Oghenebrorie Okotie is one of the most fashionable and flamboyant pastors in Nigeria. He is from Delta State. He is popular for his nerve-racking grammatical expressions that leave people wondering about the meaning of his expressions.

He is the founder and president of Household of God Church, situated in Lagos, Nigeria. He is also a graduate of Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu state. Before he went into ministry, he was a pop musician, and has a number of top pop songs to his name.

His church in Lagos is well attended by several celebrities, especially those who are in the entertainment industry.

Asides his ministry inclinations, Reverend Chris Okotie is also a politician. In the early 2000s, he founded Fresh Democratic Party, and contested for the presidency of the federal republic of Nigeria thrice on that platform, losing on all occasions.

He is also a writer and shrewd businessman. His business inclinations include real estate, oil and gas, and automobiles. He is a lover of cars and has a fleet of luxury cars at his disposal.

He occupies the 7th position on our list of the top ten richest pastors in Nigeria, and he is worth an estimated $13 million USD.

#6. Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor ($15 million)

Pastor Ayodele Oritsejafor is one of the top wealthiest and most influential Christian leaders in Nigeria. He is from Delta State, south-south Nigeria; though he was born in Lagos State.

He is the founder and president of Word of Life Bible Church, a Pentecostal ministry based in Warri, Delta State.

Pastor Ayo is one of the Nigerian pastors to own a private aircraft. His wealth comes from diverse investments in banking, media, transportation and real estate. He reportedly established that African Broadcasting Network in the UK. He also once served as the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor is currently worth $15 million.

#5. Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo ($20 million)

When the leadership of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria sent Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo over to the United Kingdom to plant a branch of Foursquare church there, little did they know that they were pushing him into his destiny.

Today, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo pastors the largest pentecostal church in the United Kingdom, as a black man. His church, Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) is one of the most influential church denominations in Christendom today. They have several branches littered all over the world, with hundreds in Nigeria and Africa alone.

Pastor Matthew started humbly and was even born into a Muslim home. However, he got converted to Christianity at age twenty, and started his journey in the ways of God. Soon after, he received a call from God.

He makes most of his wealth from his real estate and media investments, while he also earns a substantial salary from his church. His networth is put at $20 million, making him the fifth richest Nigerian pastor on our list.

According to unconfirmed reports, he owns a private jet, which he uses to ferry himself across all his international ministry locations.

#4. Prophet Temitope Babatunde Joshua ($35 million)

Prophet Temitope Babatunde Joshua, also known as TB Joshua, is one of the wealthiest and indeed, most controversial pastors in Nigeria. He was born in the year 1967 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the president and founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. His church also has numerous branches all over the world, and he regularly organizes programs in several locations around the world.

TB Joshua is a known philanthropist. His church regularly provides food and welfare materials for the needy in society, and he also offers scholarships to many students every year.

TB Joshua is a very influential leader even in political circles. He is a known counsellor to many African and European heads of state. Often, presidents and ministers of countries are seen coming to receive advice from him to solve their national or sectorial issues.

TB Joshua is also a televangelist. He owns Emmanuel TV, and he regularly broadcasts his sermons and church programs to millions of viewers and followers worldwide. He is known for his prophetic gifting and ability to predict future occurrences, majority of which have turned out to be true. Much of his income comes from Emmanuel TV, though he also has several other investments that bring him occasional profits.

He also reportedly owns at least one private jet, which he uses to ferry himself across all his international ministry locations. He is worth a whopping $35 million.

#3. Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye ($50 million)

Pastor E.A. Adeboye is arguably the most influential spiritual leader in Nigeria, and one of the most influential in Africa and the world at large. He was recently listed aming the top fifty most influential persons in the world. He is the current general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide.

He was born in the year 1942. He studied Mathematics at the University of Lagos and was a lecturer in Mathematics before God called him to the ministry. His leadership of the RCCG has seen the church grow and influence. RCCG currently has nearly 15,000 branches in Nigeria alone, with several thousands of other branches in over 190 countries all over the world.

Pastor Adeboye is a known businessman and investor. Part of his investments include stakes in the educational sector and in real estate. Under his leadership, the RCCG established Redeemers University.

Also, the Redeemed Christian Church of God camp in Ogun state has an auditorium that can allegedly seat up to a million persons at once, making it the largest church auditorium in the world.

He owns a private jet, and several landed properties and houses. He is worth an estimated $50 million, making him the third on our list of top ten richest pastors in Nigeria.

#2. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome ($80 million)

This light-skinned edo-state born Pastor is the second on our list of top ten richest pastors in Nigeria.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is from Edo state. He is the founder and President of Believers Loveworld Ministries, under which we have Christ Embassy Church (which he leads as the senior pastor), Loveworld Records (a music recording company), Loveworld Television, and a host of other arms.

Pastor Chris is into real estate and media business. He runs regular programs on his TV station, Loveworld TV. He also invests heavily in the musicians in his church, Christ Embassy. Most of them are products of Loveworld Records.

He is an accomplished writer and Speaker, with several books and publications to his name. He is worth an estimated $80 million.

#1. Bishop David Oyedepo ($200 million)

Bishop David Oyedepo is the founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith World Outreach Ministries worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel. Without doubt, he is the richest pastor in Nigeria.

He started his ministry several years ago in Kaduna, before he moved base, following divine instruction, to Ogun state.

His investments include two fully-functional universities (Covenant University and Landmark University), as well as another university currently under construction in Ghana. Covenant University and Landmark University are among the best private universities in the country. He is also into publishing: he owns a publishing house called Dominion Publishing, which publishes and sells his books, tapes, and other life-changing materials to his members and followers all around the world. His church, Living Faith has branches all around the world.

‘Papa Oyedepo’ as he is fondly called, owns at least one private jet. He also invests heavily in real estate. Recently, his church embarked on a multi-million naira project to build a 100,000-seater auditorium and office complex called Faith Theatre.

Bishop David Oyedepo is married to Mrs Faith Oyedepo, and together they have four sons. His networth is put at an estimated $200 million.
