The year 2018 has been confined to history leaving us with beautiful memories, thanksgiving, countless weddings and heartwarming celebrity nuptials that will be talked about years after. Celebrity marriages of 2018 is a tale of conventional parties with a few twists that make for joyfulness and excitement like never before.
It is quite notable that there weren’t as much weddings in 2018 as there were in the previous two or three years preceding it, but that doesn’t stop the fun, as last year also witnessed some amazing celebrity weddings, and we have for you a list of those weddings below;
1. Linda Ejiofor and Ibrahim Suleiman
We start with the beautiful Nollywood actress Linda Ejiofor and her handsome lover Ibrahim Suleiman who brought them on screen love story to reality as they tied the knot in November 2018. The white wedding and the traditional marriage took place in the space of a week and it was a fabulous event filled with happiness, love and culture. The white wedding reception was super lit, enough to leave a smile on your face. From the exquisite white bridal dress adorned by the bride, to the vows exchange and the joyful disposition of the bride and groom throughout the ceremony, this wedding was a true reflection of the friendship and love they both have for each other.
2. Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and Femisoro Ajayi
Media personality Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi tied the knot with her beau talent manager Femi Ajayi. The couple had their wedding on November 3, 2018 in the presence of friends and family. Gbemi who is an on air personality for Beat FM had fellow media personality Toke Makinwa on her bridal train, while Femisoro who is an artiste manager had Falz and Adekunle Gold as his groomsmen. The fact that this couple has a lot of celebrity friends was evident at the wedding as the wedding had a lot of celebrities in attendance. It was truly a star studded wedding.
3. Abimbola Ogunnowo and Okiki Afolayan
A man and woman coming together in marriage is definitely a beautiful thing. Apart from the fact that it is a celebration of love, for many it’s also a celebration of life, of entertainment, and of course, a celebration of the delicious Nigerian jollof. Nollywood celebrities, families and friends last year gathered to celebrate as skincare expert Abimbola Ogunnowo tied the knot with her lover script writer and producer Okiki Afolayan on October 6. It was also a display of culture as many guests including the celebrities showed up in various traditional attires, which is another main feature of Nigerian weddings.
4. Maikda Moka and Oliver Onyekweli
Fast rising actress Maikda Moka tied the knot with her beau Oliver Onyekweli on November 2018. In what was a special wedding present to the bride, her sister Uju followed her almost everywhere for a month before the wedding, documenting the journey and the processes before the wedding while also combining that with her bridesmaid duty; designing the wedding dresses with Mai Atafo, securing the hair appointments, the pre-wedding shoot and so on. The actress who is also a model has appeared in many movies such as; Taste of love, Banana Island ghost and code of silence.
5. Lala Akindoju and Chef fregz
The white wedding ceremony of the delectable award winning actress Kemi Lala Akindoju and her boo Gbugbemi Fregene aka Chef Fregz happened last year. Friends and family were in attendance at the fabulous occasion. The bride stunned in her beautiful dress by Mai Atafo and the groom also look dapper in his piece by the same designer. The event was a fun filled one from the moment the bride stepped in to meet the groom at the event, the couple dancing happily together was another enjoyable sight with special guest performance from celebrity friends Adekunle Gold and Timi Dakolo.
6. Banke and Gabriel Afolayan
Bollywood actor Gabriel Afolayan and his woman Banke tied the knot in Ibadan on April 5, 2018. The actor and his sweetheart who is an America-based lady had their traditional marriage ceremony in Ibadan with friends and family in attendance as well as colleagues in the entertainment industry who didn’t fail to show up for them on their day of joy. Among the celebrities in attendance included; movie director Kunle Afolayan, who is the brother of the groom, Singer turned Politician, Banky W and his beautiful actress wife Adesuwa Etomi, and his friend Capt Tunde Demuren with his wife Toolz.
7. Chioma Nnamani and Kenneth Omeruo
Nigerian international Kenneth Omeruo tied the knot with his sweetheart Chioma Nnamani in Turkey on May 2018. Omeruo who is back in Spain on the books of Leganes – who got him on a loan deal from his parent club Chelsea, revealed that he had known his partner for eight years before finally wedding her. Kenneth Omeruo started his career in Belgium with standard liege in 2010 and was signed two years later for Chelsea in 2012. He is yet to feature for Chelsea in a competitive game as he has been shipped on loan to different clubs across Europe in the last six years. He was a member of the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2013 AFCON winning team and he will be setting his sights at Egypt for the 2019 AFCON later this year.
8. Zainab Balogun and Dikko Nwachukwu
It came as a surprise to many early last year when Nollywood actress Zainab Balogun wedded her boo, the CEO of JetWest airline, Dikko Nwachukwu in a traditional wedding ceremony. The couple having dated for a long time felt it was time to finally settle down and this they did in the presence of friends and family. It was a joyful occasion that brought people from all works of life to dance and party with the Nwachukwu’s. The bride is known for her roles in the Nollywood dramedy ‘The Wedding Party 1 & 2’ and has also featured in Hollywood and Bollywood films. The groom is the CEO of JetWest airways, and also the former Chief Commercial Officer of Aero Contractors.
