There has been severe tension in Kano State recently, one of which is caused by the global pandemic coronavirus disease that has risen tremendously in the state. In addition to this, one of the four Emirs that was lately formed, the emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar lla II, was said to have been hurriedly taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention. According to Daily Trust, the Emir of Rano was in a life-threatening state and was taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) on Friday, May 1.
The anonymous source revealed that the ruler had been referred to Nasarawa medical hospital for additional medical care. The source stated, “As I am speaking with you now (around 2:55PM), the vehicle that is conveying the Emir to Nassarawa hospital just left the premises of AKTH. The condition of the emir was critical as at the time they departed AKTH,” the source said. The newspaper reported that one of the traditional title holders in Rano Emirate who craved anonymity also confirmed the incident. The unnamed traditional titleholder said the Emir was first rushed to AKTH but for lack of oxygen, he was referred to Nassarawa hospital. He expressed fears that the traditional ruler may have contracted the COVID-19 infection. “The Emir is in critical condition and from the look of things, it could be a case of COVID-19. May Allah protect us all, but the situation is alarming.”
