It was shocking to know that a dead body of a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, identified as Dr Nicholas Igbokwe was discovered early Saturday morning. Igbokwe was a lecturer in the Physical and Health Education Department of the university. Whilst no official report has been issued as to the cause of his death, an unidentified person said he may have died late Friday without anybody knowing about it.
The unknown fellow said, “His lifeless body was already cold when it was discovered around midnight, Saturday.
That suggests he died on Friday without anyone knowing it. I passed by his office around 7.30 p.m. on Friday, and his car was not parked at the usual spot. So, no one knew he was around.”
“Some members of staff later observed light was on in his office and entered there. He was already cold by then.”
His death was later established at the university health centre. His colleague, Abiodun Olanrewaju, who is a Public Relations Officer of the university, published in a chat, late Igbokwe would be greatly missed for his contribution to OAU. Also, he stated that “I have not been fully briefed regarding the circumstances surrounding his death. From the information available to me, he was rushed to OAU health centre, but he died before getting to the facility.”
