Grand NATIVELAND19 concert, which took place on December 19, 2019, promised to be the talk of the show on social media. However, it ended up in an unmitigated disaster. Currently, it is the number one trending concert subject on social media amongst Nigerians as attendees were left discontented, battered and some resulted in the hospital.
The Fireboy’s concert, which was conducted at Muri Park, Victoria Island, Lagos commenced precariously. As time went by during the show, the stage collapsed, causing many injured.
People decided to take to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their concerns. Some people claimed the calamity happened due to overcrowding. Most people also blamed the security personnel for being aggressive and not able to manage the crowd.
Given all that occurred at the show, NATIVELAND19 team apologised to everyone that attended the concert. In the apology statement, they pledge to obtain a considerably spacious venue for the next event. However, the concert attendees were displeased by the apology letter as some people demands for a refund. Some people claimed that their belongings were missing. Concertgoers said the planning was poor and as such, the cue was excessively long.
