What Causes Dry Skin?

Dry skin is caused by a variety of factors. For some people, dry skin is hereditary, as genetic type can affect the amount of sebum produced in the skin’s oil glands. Sebum is the substance that is responsible for keeping our skin soft and supple.

A lot of people assume that dry skin is due to a lack of moisture, but the water content of dry skin is mostly found in similar levels to that of oily skin. Adding water to dry skin is actually ineffective to treating this skin condition.

MAINTENANCE OF DRY SKIN

Reason Why Moisturizer is important for Dry Skin

Finding an ointment that helps your skin look good is essential. People with dry skin often suffer from slight allergic reactions and also benefit from creams instead of lotions when it comes to moisturizers, as they contain more oil, making it thicker and more moisturizing. The more oil found in an ointment, the better it can be absorb through the epidermal barriers to help hydrate the tissue. Before using a daily moisturizer to your skin, make sure to test it on a small portion of your skin to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction.

Oily skin type

People with oily skin tend to notice a great deal of shining face, and may deal with terrible acne breakouts. However, people with oily skin are fortunate – when it comes to exhibiting signs of aging. Oily skin develops lesser wrinkles, meaning they seem to age more slowly. Oily skin types happen to have thicker skin due to genetic factors, and this thickness means less fine lines, as their skin is less prone to dehydration. The great news about oily skin is that they way younger and more supple because it has more natural moisture and is less prone to wrinkle.

Causes of oily skin

People would always ask themselves: Why do I have oily skin?

It can be has a result of both genetic factors and hormonal changes experienced in an individual’s lifetime. People with a genetic predisposition to active oil glands produce a higher amount of sebum. Individual oily skin types should stay away from heavy cosmetics that can lead to blocked pores. Use with oil-free products crafted for oily skin types, and make sure you remove your makeup each night before going to bed, and before you head to the gym. Also be sure to clean your makeup brushes regularly to avoid the spread of bacteria across your skin’s surface.

MAINTENANCE OF OILY SKIN

A lot of people struggling with oily skin go straight for products that promise to dry out the skin, like acne treatments that contain strong ingredients, but this can actually be counterproductive. Drying ingredients may cause your skin to work harder at producing more oil, which may result to the skin producing more oil. It’s important to lightly remove oily skin, as the increase of oil can cause dead skin cells to become trapped in the pores and lead to the gradual development of acne and other skin problems.

Combination Skin

A lot of people mistakenly believe they have oily skin when they, in fact, have combination skin type. If an individual’s skin is oily all over, there are likely parts of the skin that are dry or normal, which would qualify under combination skin.

Combination skin is the most common skin type, but it can be difficult to identify and treat. There are some part of the skin that will often be shiny, which includes the nose, chin and forehead. These areas tend to have more active oil glands than other parts of the face like the cheeks. Having to deal with both dry and oily skin means finding the perfect skin care regimen that’s strong enough to exfoliate without irritating the skin.
