News has arisen that the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, was urgently taken to the hospital on May 5. The ruler was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina state in life-threatening condition. As reported by The Nation newspaper, the elected monarch was horridly taken to the hospital shortly after he blacked out due to suspected high blood pressure. An anonymous source reported to Nigerian Tribune that the Emir was transported to the hospital early hour of the morning where he was admitted and promptly moved to the intensive-care unit.
“The Emir of Daura, Umar, was indeed rushed to FMC for high blood pressure suspected condition, he was unconscious and was taken to the hospital at about 1AM. Some individuals even thought whether he had passed on,” the unidentified person said. The ruler sickness happened two days after the Governor Aminu Bello Masari sealed the Daura palace to control the spread of coronavirus in the entire Daura LGA. The Emir’s illness has increased speculation among inhabitants that the ruler is suffering from a be suspected case of COVID-19, while others believe the monarch critical condition may be caused by shutting down of his palace. The unknown fellow said, “Today, the health condition of the Emir of Daura has deteriorated as he could not speak and even move. So, we had to quickly take him to the Federal Medical Centre in Katsina state.”

The Secretary to Katsina State Government, Dr Mustapha Inuwa, confirmed that the legitimate ruler’s palace was quarantined after coronavirus cases were recorded.
