As stated by The Nations Report, one of the soldiers assigned to man the house of the former President Goodluck Jonathan which is located at Otuoke, Ogbia local government territory in Bayelsa State, has been killed. The unknown gunmen violently ambushed his local house approximately 3 am on the 24th of December, 2019. Because the unidentified are aware that Ex-president home is secured by militaries, they started shooting sporadically on arrival.
Eyewitnesses said the suspected dangerous killers who were heavily armed travelled via a river on five speedboats. Because of the shooting of the gunmen, the securities guarding Jonathan’s home opened fire accordingly, leaving at least three men deceased. One of the soldiers manning the formal President house was killed, some hospitalised in critical condition and two dead from the attackers. The dead bodies of the attackers were taking away by the gunmen. One of Jonathan’s close fellow worker revealed that the gunmen presumed he was in his local house, Otueke, having spotted him a few times recently.
“Thankfully, the former President is healthy and alive. Our sincere condolence goes to the families of the soldier killed,” the family source stated sympathetically.
However, the state police command has not commented regarding the deadly attack.
