Phyno is one of the most handsome and phenomenal artistes Nigeria has ever produced. The name ‘Phyno’ is actually coined from the word ‘Phenomenal’. He has carved a niche for himself as an Igbo rapper, and has also received several awards for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
Phyno was born on the 9th of October, 1986 as Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike to Mr and Mrs Azubuike. He is from Anambra state, though he was born and bred in Enugu state. He initially wanted to go to school and become a pilot, but that desire soon waned as he grew older. He then switched and decided to become a Doctor – like many Nigerian children, but that failed too. His love for music began at a very tender age as he was known to be good in miming to songs and creating his own version of every song or recording he came across. In fact, it was one of his high school friends named Emeka that nicknamed him ‘Phyno’ for his incredible talent at that time, and the name stuck like glue ever since. Phyno attended the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu state where he studied Public Administration.
