Biography of Olamide: Age, Songs, Children, Wife and More

Popular Nigerian hip hop star, Olamide Adedeji is one Nigerian youth that is certainly not lazy, has paid his dues, and certainly deserves some accolades for putting Nigeria on the spotlight. He is often referred to as ‘Olamide Badoo’ for one of his very popular hit songs. His stage name ‘Olamide’ is a yoruba name that means ‘My wealth has come’ in English. Indeed, it can be said that Olamide’s wealth has arrived as he is currently among the top richest musicians in Nigeria and Africa at large.


Olamide is a very hardworking and ethical individual. That, perhaps, could be attributed to his humble background. He was born on the 15th of March 1989 without a silver spoon. He is currently 29 years old, and is a native of Bariga in Lagos state. He attended the popular Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijebu-Ode, where he studied Mass Communication.

Olamide’s Songs and Music Work:

Olamide decided to delve into music fully after he allegedly discovered that he was gifted in the area of music and rap. Even though he was more inclined to singing and rapping in yoruba language – which was not popular at that time, he forged on and determined to carve a niche for himself. After years of building capacity and getting exposure, he signed on to a ID Cabasa’s record label known as Coded Tunes. In 2010, he released his first single, titled ‘Eni Duro’ as an artiste under ID’s Coded Tunes. This song instantly put the spotlight on him and he grew more popular. Eni Duro aired on various radio stations all around the country, and it further paved the way for collaborations with other top artistes like Wizkid, Reminisce, 9ice, and D’banj, amongst others. The following year 2011, he released his first studio album titled ‘Rapsodi’.

The following year, 2012 precisely, he left ID Cabasa’s record label and launched his own record label. He called it YBNL Nation.

Now working as YBNL, Olamide released his second studio album titled YBNL in November 2012. He brought in ID Cabasa, SamKlef, Pheelz and Tyrone to handle the production aspects, while the songs featured special appearances from top artistes like Tiwa Savage, Dammy Krane, Reminisce, Davido, Minus 2, KaySwitch, and a host of others. Around that time, there were rumours of the existence of a dangerous and mysterious american cult called Illuminati. Well, that didn’t deter him, as he went ahead to release a single titled ‘Elefo Illuminati’ to support the album, alongside other singles titled ‘First of All’ and ‘Voice of the Street’.

Almost exactly one year later, Olamide released his third studio album titled ‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’. His popular alias ‘Olamide Badoo’ originated from here. This particular album won him almost fifty different awards.

Olamide’s Family:

As is the case with top Nigerian artistes, Olamide has a baby mama. Her name is Aisha Suleiman, and she happens to be his long-time girlfriend. Together they have a son named Batifeori Maximilliano Adedeji. Little is known about Olamide’s family, but he reportedly lost his mother on the 30th of January 2018 – the same day his son was celebrating his birthday.

Olamide’s Endorsements:

Olamide has earned big from lucrative endorsement deals signed with multinationals. 2013 can be ascribed to be his breakout year: in 2013, he signed an endorsement deal with Ciroc, becoming the first Nigerian ever to accomplish that. Later that same year, he signed another one with Guinness, and before that same year ended, he signed another deal with Etisalat.

After he lost his mother, he landed another lucrative deal with Play Nigeria.

Olamide’s Net Worth:

Olamide is reportedlt worth around $6 million. Most of his earnings and wealth comes from endorsement deals with multinational giants and also live appearances at events. . He is said to own three houses in lagos worth close to 100 million naira when put together. He is also a lover of automobiles, as he has been seen in and around a number of exquisite cars.
