Bimbo-Akinsanya is a talented Nigerian Yoruba Actress with over 15 years of experience acting Yoruba movies in various capacities. She’s one of the most sought-after Yoruba movie actresses and is a regular face in Yoruba movies.


She is a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, with a degree in Micro-Biology. Bimbo Akinsanya is no doubt one of the best actresses in Nollywood. The Abeokuta, Ogun State-born star started acting shortly after her training in Odunfa Caucus over 10 years ago.

I Bimbo Akinsanya don’t really have any particular secret about her looks. According to her, she only tries to eat good food and fruits.

She loves yam a lot; and also tea. In fact, she drinks tea with plenty of milk every day.

How did her acting career start?

It started about 11 years ago while she was still in school. One day, she ran into a popular actress, known as Iya Ibeji Omo Araye Le. She met her at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), and approached her and said she loved acting. She advised Bimbo Akinsanya to go to Odunfa and meet another popular actor, Araosan. Unfortunately, she went there twice without meeting him. She later met Ogogo when she visited the third time.

What were her parents’ reactions when they realised she wanted to be an actress?

Her mother was against it at the beginning because she thought she would never get married. However, Bimbo Akinsanya convinced her that being an actress didn’t mean a life of celibacy or irresponsibility. Her dad on the other wasn’t really bothered. He only gave her a condition: that she must go to school.


Did she agree with her dad’s condition?

Yes. She first studied Laboratory Technology at the Osun State Polytechnic, Ire; before moving on to study Micro-Biology at the Olabisi Onabanjo University.

He must be handsome and God-fearing. He must also be of a good height. However, religion is not an issue. He can be a Christian or a Muslim.

Her background/childhood

Bimbo is the last child in a family of six. She grew up in Yaba area of Lagos before her parents moved from that area. As the last child, her parents, especially her mother, pampered her and would not allow her to do some household chores in those days.
