GLO has always been in the lead of providing Nigerians with cutting edge technology. Permit me to remind you that GLO NG were the first mobile network provider to introduce per second billing, 3G data sharing, voice and data plans in Nigeria.

LTE which means Long Term Evolution signifies 4th Generation Technology. It is therefore necessary that mobile network service providers who know their onions adopt this new network technology; in which GLO NG is no exception.

With GLO 4G LTE, you can now stream videos, download software, update mobile phone operating systems and enjoy services like Netflix and iRoko with no hassles. According to the service provider, with the GLO 4G LTE, subscribers enjoy faster and more reliable broadband internet service for their services such as: smartphones, tablets and laptops.

According to GLO, the 4G LTE has a download and upload speed of 100 Mbps and 50Mbps respectively which makes it 10 times faster than the ordinary 3G, which therefore means users are in for super-duper internet service. The network is currently available in Lagos in cities including: Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island, Ajah and Akoka.

In Abuja, the network is available in Wuse, Asokoro, Maitama, Garki/Central Business District, and Airport Road. It can also be found in Aba Road, Trans Amadi, Diobu, Old GRA and UNIPORT in Port Harcourt.

Not left out are Benin, Warri, Jos, Eket, Zaria: ABU, Yola: ABTI (as at the time of writing this article) with more states to soon to soon enjoy this internet service. Here’s a map showing locations in Nigeria where Glo 4G LTE networks are available.

It is important to know that not all phones support the new 4G LTE network. Hence, if your device isn’t 4G enabled, you might need to consider buying a new one to enjoy this service.  For you to know if your device is compatible with GLO4G LTE network, simply text 4G to 400 and you will receive a message telling you if your device is compatible or not.

For PC users, you can obtain any of the GLO 4G routers or Universal MiFi from any GLO outlet.  If your device is found compatible, simply visit any GLO outlet nearest to you and buy a new 4G LTE SIM, register it, or swap your normal GLOSIM for a 4G LTE SIM.

The next step is to Dial *777# on your device and a small pop-up window will show the following options:

  • 4G LTE Data Services
  • 3G Data Services
  • Blackberry Services
  • 4G LTE Coverage
  • Exit

Select the first option (4G LTE Data Services) and another pop-up menu with 4G LTE Data Subscription will present you with the following options:
