Federal University Dutse Admission Process:

As it is with every other Federal University, admission into the Federal University Dutse is quite competitive, but not as fiercely competitive as many Federal Universities in the country. The University considers all categories of qualified students for admission, and does not discriminate against candidates on the basis of religious inclinations, tribe, language or gender. In fact, the school also makes provision for foreigners to apply.

FUD admits students through Direct Entry (DE) and UTME. They also admit suitably qualified candidates into postgraduate programs.

For admission into undergraduate programs, prospective candidates will typically need to have scored a minimum of 180 in the last UTME exercise (although, this benchmark was recently temporarily reduced to 160, so as to accommodate more candidates).

The prospective candidate is also expected to choose FUD as either their first or second choice institution when registering for UTME.

Finally, the candidate is also required to possess the requisite distinctions in the specified subjects of their O’Level WAEC or NECO results, without which they do not qualify to be considered as eligible to apply. Each department in the institution gives a list of subjects that each candidate applying to their department must have passed during their O’Level exams, and failure to have distinctions in these specified subjects will rule out one’s chances of admission. Asides these department-specific subject requirements, general university requirements state that the ideal candidate must have passed at least English Language with distinction, as the major medium of instruction in the University is English language.
