Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (also known as ABU Zaria) is one of Nigeria’s foremost research Universities. It was founded in the year 1962, and is located in Zaria, Kaduna state, Nigeria. Kaduna is one of Nigeria’s education centres, as it houses over 15 specialized colleges and a recognized university. The institution is named after one of Nigeria’s premier political icons, Sir Ahmadu Bello; who was the first premier of Northern Nigeria, and also the Sardauna of Sokoto.

Ahmadu Bello University Admission Process:
To gain admission into ABU, like every other federal University, is not so easy. However, with the right grades, it is fairly achievable. For eligibility, all prospective candidates must have scored not less than 180 in UTME. Candidates must also have chosen Ahmadu Bello University Zaria as their first choice of institution.
Registration and application for admission is strictly an online affair, and is carried out on the admissions portal, www.putme.abu.edu.ng.
Once you log in to the portal, follow the relevant instructions and generate a transaction Payment Slip, verify and then proceed to pay via Remita or any of the other authorized payment platforms. After making payment, print the slip and then go back to the admissions portal to log in and supply your full details. Remember to upload a clear passport photograph where required. Print a confirmation slip and await information from the school on when the screening will hold, if you are invited, what day(s) you are invited and where you will be invited to partake in the screening.
It is important to note that, just like many other good institutions in the country, admission into ABU Zaria is very competitive. Of the 63,000 candidates that recently applied for admission during the last entrance season, only 10,000 of them were admitted.
Ahmadu Bello University School fees 2017/2018:
Tuition fees for both new and returning students at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria are relatively inexpensive, compared to other federal universities situated in the west and in the south. Fees are also determined by the department a student belongs to, as some departments are traditionally more expensive than others. For returning. Students, tuition ranges from N14,500 to N39,500 naira, while the fee for freshers is between N22,000 naira and N44,250 naira.
